Now its official. FIFA has announced today the three candidates for the 2010 FIFA Golden Ball Award. All three currently play for FC BARCELONA, Andres Iniesta - Xavi Hernandez - Lionel Messi - with the winner to be announced on the 10th of Janaury 2011 in Zurich.

The big surprise was the non-inclusion of Inter Milan player Wesley Sneijder whos place was taken by Messi.
Last Friday I posted ( see below ) news from Barcelona Sports paper "Mundo Deportivo" that mentioned that FC Barcelona midfielder XAVI HERNANDEZ would be the winner of the 2010 FIFA Golden Ball Award according to a survey done to 75 Football personalities. The 50,000 Football professionals that make up the FIFPro (World Players Union) along with World governing Football body FIFA have handed in their list of 55 players nominated for the "2010 FIFA FIFPro World XI”. The official announcement of the players that will make up the World Team will be held the 10th of January 2011 alongside the naming of the winning of the “FIFA Golden Ball 2010”.

There seems to be two firm favourites for this years “FIFA Goleen Ball” 2010. According to Barcelona based Sports daily “Sport” (couldn’t be any other ) two FC BARCELONA players XAVI HERNANDEZ & ANDRES INIESTA will be “fighting” it out. Apparently, the votes have been already done & shut between the World Press journalists with “France Football” “sources” hinting that Iniesta has the advantage.
